Our video production company partnered with The Door in New York City to create a video for their 2024 Gala.
The Story
For the third year in a row, our video production company collaborated with The Door on a video for their annual gala. This time, The Door wanted to create something that felt different from year’s past. Our creative team proposed a music-video style piece that highlighted the energy of The Door and showcased the diversity of young people who access The Door’s services.
Ultimately, this video celebrates The Door’s mission to empower young people to reach their potential by providing comprehensive youth development services in a diverse and caring environment. And our team was thrilled to have the opportunity to create something so fun!
The Process
- Our team began with narrative development. First, we collaborated with The Door on the energy they envisioned for the piece. Then, we built out a narrative that matched that vision.
- Simultaneously, our in-house motion designer drew up a visual development document. This showcased her visual ideas for the video.
- Once The Door approved both the narrative and the visual direction, we finalized all logistics for production.
- Our team spent one day filming at The Door, capturing as many young people’s voices as possible! In order to do this, we set up an interview “booth” in The Door’s “center space.” Here we held quick, 10-15 minute interviews with 8 young people and 3 staff members.
- Afterwards, we spent some time walking the young people through our ideas for b-roll. Since we wanted to make this video feel different from year’s past, we incorporated a variety of b-roll to ensure the piece felt energetic.
- Next, we got to work on editing. Our editor worked hand in hand with our motion designer, ensuring the custom graphics fit seamlessly into the final video.
- After three rounds of client review, we delivered the final piece to The Door to showcase at their Fall Gala.
The Result
The Door debuted this video at their 2024 Gala. It reached an audience of donors, staff members and young people. The video was a hit and attendees loved it!
