Our video production company created a series of videos to support The New York City Department of Education.
The Story
Working in education is a calling and a passion. The DOE’s Students in Temporary Housing team is deeply committed to supporting students in temporary housing and their families because all students deserve the benefits of a stable school environment, regardless of their housing situation. The STH team wanted to create a series of videos to help onboard new staff members. This was accomplished by creating a best practices video, as seen above, as well as several role-specific videos. Below, you’ll find the onboarding videos for several STH roles. The final videos were vibrant and featured staff members, teachers and administrators across various NYC public schools.
The Process
- First, we collaborated with the STH team on a series of videos to support their staff members. This included a brainstorming meeting with STH regional managers to ensure they’re ideas were incorporated into the narratives.
- Ultimately, we landed on four videos: one “best practices” video and four onboarding videos for various STH roles.
- Then, we crafted narrative outlines and interview questions based on our conversations with the STH team.
- Simultaneously, our team worked to put all the logistics into place for two days of on-site filming at schools with students in temporary housing.
- During filming, we captured interviews and b-roll with STH staff and educators.
- Additionally, we filmed two virtual interviews for two of the onboarding videos.
- Our in-house motion designer also created a custom suite of graphics to accompany the videos.
- Finally, we edited the on-site and virtual footage seamlessly into four videos.
The Result
The Students in Temporary Housing team uses these videos to onboard staff members. They highlight the critical work of the STH team and how best to support their students.
