Athlete Ally: Allyship PSA

Show the Good partnered with Athlete Ally to create a PSA during their 2025 Athlete Activism Summit in Portland, OR.

The Story

This was the third year our team joined Athlete Ally for their annual Activism Summit. This year, we decided to create a PSA for Athlete Ally to share across all of their campus chapters and social media platforms. The Athlete Ally team decided they wanted to tell a story of allyship. So, over the course of four days we conducted interviews and directed b-roll with the student athletes who attended this year’s summit. The PSA is a representation of what it means to be an ally through the voices of Athlete Ally’s community.

The Process

  • First, we had an in-depth narrative call with Athlete Ally to co-create a vision for this year’s video. Ultimately, we decided to create a PSA about allyship.
  • Simultaneously, our in-house producer, Mikaila Schmitt, worked to put all the logistics into place. This included developing a schedule for filming, reaching out to interviewees, and hiring a cinematographer and local photographer for the event.
  • Once on site, our producer managed all filming and photography logistics.
  • While our photographer captured the event in action, our producer and cinematographer focused on the PSA. We conducted interviews with six student athletes and directed b-roll with each of them.
  • Then, we edited the footage into a 2-minute PSA, formatted both horizontally for web and vertically for social.
  • Once the piece was locked, our colorist graded the PSA, creating a cohesive look across the entire video.
  • The final assets included the 2-minute PSA and a suite of 500+ photographs for the Athlete Ally team.

The Result

The Athlete Ally team posted the PSA and photographs across their social media channels. Additionally, the PSA is set to play at their campus chapters across the country.
