Show the Good produced a multi-language PSA project for NYC Health + Hospitals. The PSAs highlight their health care access program, NYC Care.
The Story
NYC Care is a health care access program. It guarantees low-cost and no-cost services to New Yorkers who do not qualify for or cannot afford health insurance. All NYC Care services are provided through NYC Health + Hospitals. With NYC Care, you can get a unique membership card to access health services. Additionally, you can choose your own doctor, and get affordable medications. In 2023, the NYC Health + Hospitals team asked Show The Good to create a series of PSA videos in multiple languages. This was for a city-wide education campaign about NYC Care and the health benefits available to New Yorkers.
The Process
- The multi-month production process started with narrative work. Our founder Brit Liggett collaborated with NYC Health + Hospitals on a vision for the PSAs.
- Three different scripts were created for the series. One for current members, another for prospective members, and a final for renewing members.
- The English scripts were translated into three languages: Bengali, Mandarin and Spanish.
- Over the course of three filming days, we recorded four NYC Health + Hospitals physicians and filmed footage around New York City. Our goal was for the footage to feel representative of the NYC Health + Hospitals community.
- Then we got to work on editing. With nearly 200 final deliverables, our team was meticulous during the editing process. We ensured all of the files met NYC Health + Hospitals’ standards for delivery.
- We also delivered subtitle files in 10 additional languages: Albanian, Arabic, Cantonese, French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Korean, Polish, Russian and Urdu.
- Simultaneously, our in-house motion designer created branded graphic assets to accompany each video.
- Once editor Nico Osborne and colorist Cédric von Niederhausern added the finishing touches to the PSAs, we delivered the final files to NYC Health + Hospitals.
The Result
In the Fall of 2023, NYC Health + Hospitals had a campaign to increase enrollment in NYC Care. These videos were used as a part of this push. The results exceeded their expectations, with enrollment ticking up throughout the campaign. The videos accumulated hundreds of thousands of views on their YouTube channel.
